Septic Tank Maintenance

At Coakley Septic Tank Cleaning we specialise in all aspects of septic tank cleaning maintenance.

It is important to have your septic tank or waste water system emptied to avoid build-up of sludge which can lead to blockages, overflow and groundwater contamination.

If you are experiencing problems with your septic tank or percolation area, we are here to help.

We carry out a thorough septic tank inspection and identify any faults. We then report back to the client with any issues we have found.

Septic Tank Maintenance Tips

  • When having your septic tank or bio-cycle emptied, the work should be carried out by a certified professional.
  • Be conscious of your water use. Excessive water consumption can overload your system. Make sure to repair any leaks immediately and never leave your taps running.
  • Do not flush non-biodegradable waste down the toilet. Cotton wool buds, cigarette butts, sanitary products and baby wipes can cause blockages and interfere with the performance of your septic tank.
  • When washing dishes, do not pour grease or fat down the sink. Cooking oils are difficult to degrade and can cause blockages.
  • Never use a toilet to dispose of food waste. Toilets are only intended for organic human waste, solid foods can cause your septic system to fail.
  • Harsh chemicals can damage the components of your septic tank or kill off the bacteria required for the tank to function correctly. Use bleach and disinfectants sparingly.
